The Vietnam part of the Mekong delta is more than 200km long. The locals live mainly by farming, fishing, gardening and raising poultry. Tourism in this area has just started to develop, which means that there are many places along the river, where no tourists have yet been. This trip is a boat trip on the Mekong river, experiencing the daily life of the locals who inhabit the region, visiting orchards, bee -keeping farms, taste natural honey & honey wine, enjoying tropical fruit, traditional music and a visit to an interesting floating market where many local people gather to sell their produce.
Itinerary
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City - Cai Be - Vinh Long - Can Tho (L, D)
In the morning take 3 hour drive to Cai Be Town, deep in the Mekong Delta - the second largest Delta in the world, and embark on a private boat. The tour begins by visiting the colorful Cai Be floating market, some local home-made workshops that produce rice paste, rice popcorn and coconut candy.
Proceeding to evergreen islands among the Mekong River through a large network of meandering tributaries, crisscrossed with countless arroyos where you can have an easy biking on the local roads if you wish. Lunch is served at a local home before cruising to Vinh Long to discover beautiful landscapes along the river and observe the typical Mekong Delta rural life.
in the afternoon, drive to Can Tho. Overnight at the blended colonial-style architecture with the natural beauty of the river in Can Tho.
Day 2: Can Tho - Cai Rang Floating Market - Ho Chi Minh City (B, L)
After breakfast, check out the Hotel and take a small local boat cruising to visit colorful Cai Rang floating market which is considered as the largest floating market in South East Asia, there will be hundreds of boats laden with fruits, vegetable, and fish, jostling for trade. Drive back to Ho Chi Minh City with a lunch stop on the way.
